LEGACY

His intention was to give formal education to a number of footballers who plays football in his vicinity.
You only get the opportunity to play if only you avail yourself for classes in the morning.
All this while the class was been held under a mango tree.
The number started increasing until he has to move them to a bigger mango tree for more space.
Luckily for him he met some people who became interested in what he was doing so they helped him and he rented a building that will be able to accommodate the number of children he is teaching.
He then has to relocate to the next community when the number increased. The name of this new community is called Teshie.
They rented an apartment which houses about 50 pupils and Mr Mahmud single handedly has to move from one class to the other to teach.

Fortunately for him he had one lady who agreed to help him teach the kids for free.
The plan at that time was to teach this kids for sometime and later enrol them in government schools for them to get proper and formal education.
This they did for sometime and with the support of individuals, the number continued increasing until the founder decided to acquire a land and build a formal school and acquire accreditation from the government agency in charge of education in Ghana, that is the Ghana Education Service.
Unfortunately for us, the founder, Mr. Billa Mahmud, who also happened to be my husband died suddenly and I have to take over as the new director.
We relocated to our present site in a wooden structure after we were painfully evicted from the previous premises. With the help of FAFA Foundation, we were able to get a more appealing double storey classroom block and two school buses to convey the kids to and from school. We now have a pupil population of about 400 and 25 teaching and non teaching staff.

The project is still on course and our intention to provide formal education and nurture the talents of kids from a less privileged families is intact.
Our main partners like FAFA Foundation, Future Leaders , UK, Akwaaba Volunteers and later Future Stars Charity continued with their support despite the demise of the founder.
When Covid came in late 2019 to 2020, most of our donors winded up thus support for the project became minimal or non existent. One of our main partners, Future Leaders, UK, however continued with their support until they also winded up in December,2021. FAFA Foundation has been on board and they are still helping enormously with the project.
Though there is a lot to do when it comes to infrastructural development, we are so grateful to FAFA Foundation for their continuous support and donations to the school. There are other partners like Akwaaba Volunteers, Future Stars Charity who are one way or the other supporting the school in different aspects. We also have students of Cologne International School coming in year in year out to volunteer and donate to the school. They have also been our partners for sometime.
The project can also boost of a football team with ages ranging from Under 10 to Under 17. There is also a girl’s netball team affiliated to the school. Our main aim is also to nurture their talents and also give them formal education.
